taught an 8.5 hr class today(?!) although it was not me lecturing the whole time - i prob did lecture for at least 4 hrs anyhow. needless to say i am exhausted - tried to take a nap, but in a house with two kids (and come to think of it, 3 cats), that's easier said than done.

and guess what? i get to do it again tomorrow (though i do expect it to be an easier day)...

in the comments of my "10 great songs" post fortune elkins from bread, coffee, chocolate, yoga asked me if i have a 'default' tune for 'those weird empty moments when you stare into space and you hear music in your head' for her 'it's always "i want you/she's so heavy" from abbey road.'

i find this question fascinating (i'm apt to think about this for hours - well - at least until spongebob's lost episode comes on) and perhaps being asked it, i am too self-conscious to just let go and realize what my default is. i think instead of a "default" tune - i have more of a "rotating banner ad" of tunes in my head. in fact - of the list of 10 great songs, the first five are for the most part the songs which have been in "high rotation" in my mental top ten - today, for example, "i am the resurrection" is in the top spot - but tomorrows another day - listened to norah jones a lot today, so perhaps a tune of hers (lonestar, perhaps? - uh oh, i can hear it starting to get stuck) or now that she planted the seed, perhaps something from abbey road - a favorite of mine (for me, the medley that begins with "carry that weight" is the stickiest song of that bunch (oh yeah - and "here comes the sun))

now that i've mentioned, bread, coffee, chocolate, yoga, that has to be on my short list of favorite blogs - consistently great and informative posts and beautifully illustrative of the best aspects of blogs - their utterly personal nature, their ability for bloggers to be your "editor" for resources on topics...

in last night's alias, they led you to believe something happened that didn't. (that, btw, is pretty much the whole show - get you thinking one way, then dash your expectations - funny thing is almost everytime i fall for it - at least, while i know things aren't as they seem, i still can't quite figure out what's up) now i won't go into details because a.) there may be some folks *gasp* who don't watch alias and b.) i know at least one regular reader sees it after we do in the US and I don't want to spoil it. anyhow, my point is, i would have sworn i actually saw something happen on the screen that didn't. i was so convinced i re-ran the tape to see if they weren't playing fair - but, sure enough, what i thought i saw was not really shown - just implied. my point - i wonder what the implications this would have on me as a witness...

delgados -all you need is hate

my yoga practice has been very sporadic lately due to my schedule. that being said, i was pleasantly suprised that i haven't completely slipped...yesterday's class was a case in point. although some of the forward bends were pretty sad, most of the rest of the poses were not bad. i must be active enough/practicing enough not to slip too much and certainly not to lose all the gains i've made. now that my schedule has loosened a bit, perhaps i can be more diligient. and of course, the point of yoga is not to do poses perfectly, but to bring a meditative quality to one's life - which, i guess, like my forward bends, some days i have it; some days i don't...

ok - who told me about bering strait - the russian country band. i recall someone (i think in blogsville) mentioning them to me a while back. then i saw them on tv and didn't make the connection until i looked them up and saw a bit of their bio. they are good!
