well, i survived my zoo trip with little damage - except perhaps to my hearing. i have seen the who (who were in the guiness book of records as the world's loudest band), sat in the 5th row for a talking heads concert, walked past the jet engine testing facilities at nasa and yet nothing compared to the noise of a bus full of 5th graders...
the zoo was fun. i think i had the "good kid" group - which is refreshing because my daughter got to pick most of the group, which shows she has good taste in friends....i guess some of the things i heard some of the other kids say were shocking - but fortunately not really that much from my daughter's group.
i did see one of the grossest things i've ever seen - let's say a gorilla was practicing a crude form of food recycling. needles to say for the 5th graders - not known for being particularly mature - this was the highlight....
oh well, i leave perhaps a bit grayer, but no worse the wear...

i've been reading her for a while, no idea why i didn't link sooner - oh well, better late than never...

warning: haircut blog...
i got a new haircut and i'm looking pretty darned hot, if i must say so...
tomorrow, i get to go to the zoo with my daughter's fifth grade class. you might ask, "why are they going to the zoo in the middle of december with copious snow predicted?". well, i'm wondering the same thing. i guess there is some kind of christmas display. anyhow, should be fun. get to ride on a school bus and eat a brown bag lunch...

way cool band, brave combo's version of the christmas song includes the lyrics:
"Everybody knows some tofu and some
Mistletoe help to make the season bright"
but then again, you'd expect such coolness from such a cool band...
newspapers are a waste...checking news online, i instantly knew of saddam's capture, whereas there is no mention of it in the paper - must have happened after printing - i feel so much more aware by not reading the paper, of course, i have no idea what is going on in my community....
i spend so much time working these days, but i love it...it is bad though cause i can't seem to relax (to paraphrase david byrne) - if i'm not on the compuer, xbox, or watching a dvd (picked up the hulk and matrix reloaded used, woo hoo), i am clueless what to do - today, though i think we are decorating the tree and i will try to make some time reading and listening to music...
i went to a reunion of an old company at dave and busters (a great place - me and my wife were really blastin' the borg in a star trek game). it was odd though, cause many from the company, i didn't know - they either left before i started (1998) or were around when i was at a customer site for 2 years, so i knew them by name only...oh well, was fun anyhow - and good seeing the couple of people i did know....

PowerPoint Makes You Dumb
powerpoint is perhaps the most misused application. while implicating it in the space shuttle tragedy might seem far-fetched, this rings true to me.
