haven't done one of these for a while...

1. What's the last place you traveled to, outside your own home state/country?
outside of state: detroit, michigan
outside of country: windsor, ontario, canada
and they were separate trips. btw, detroit/windsor is, i believe, the only place in the continental US which is north of canada...

2. What's the most bizarre/unusual thing that's ever happened to you while traveling?
hmmm, wife noticed her wallet was missing just as we got to daytona beach, so we had to backtrack instead of hanging at the beach, grrr....
also, hanging out on times square with my brother in the wee hours of the morning. uh, it wasn't my idea.
also, throwing up in the parking lot of the washington monument. i visited there in high school and got the flu during the trip.

3. If you could take off to anywhere, money and time being no object, where would you go?
rio, london, tokyo,mumbai

4. Do you prefer traveling by plane, train or car?
plane

5. What's the next place on your list to visit?
there is no such list - maybe nyc to see my brother...

while dining on a delightful vegetarian burrito w/mucho caliente sauce at chipotle, a country version of ac/dc's you shook me all night long came on. the oddest thing about it was that there was nothing odd about it. it sounded like a perfect country song. anyone who knows who does this version please let me know....

the buddhist have nirvana.
the moslems have paradise.
christians have heaven.

what does a middle-aged sometime-software-developer, sometime-computer-science-faculty-member, sometime-grad-school-student, with no definitive religious affiliation have?
cici's pizza!

pop quiz: what do me, michelle yeoh and andy warhol have in common?

i know, when you saw me and michelle yeoh , i bet you were thinking "they are both incredibly gorgeous and kung fu masters as well", but that would have been too easy, so i threw in warhol to make it harder.

hint: longtime readers might recall i have posted about this previously.

amen, bertrand!

A one-question geek test: If you get this, you're a geek: Seen on a California license plate on a VW Beetle: "FEATURE"

for the record, it took me a second, but i got it. so apparently this is somewhat accurate.

ok - back to haloscan comments - all squawkbox comments are gone...

anyhow, went to the zoo yesterday - highlight for me was the orangutangs. lowlight: the bats. i find them so creepy. i can physically feel my body tense, my breathe get short, etc when looking at them. my wife said "what's there to be afraid of - they are just rats with wings." - exactly. when i asked how a spider no larger than a fingernail is scary to her, yet a flying rat isn't - she said "because it isn't" - hmmmm
